Since I began my productivity challenge I have fully implemented into my life the first three pillars. It was work! But it was worth it! Here is where I am:
#1 – The Cornerstone – I got clear on my values and ran an “integrity scan” to insure I was living true to them. “I got my mind right.”
#2 – My Purpose Statement – I connected my goals, dreams and desires to a higher purpose. I went through the process of discovering why I wanted the things I desired to achieve.
#3 – My Vision Statement – I spent some time writing what my life will look like when I get it exactly the way I want it. This process brought great clarity to what it was I really wanted to create (the lifestyle.) It also saved me from launching some things that would have created a lifestyle that was not in alignment with my truest desires.
Now armed with such clarity I am now qualified to chart my course! As I thought about the process of charting our course to create the vision we have formed, it reminded me of one of the laws in my favorite book… the Law of Navigation, in “The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership” by John C. Maxwell.
The law of Navigation is about Planning Ahead! He quotes the following acronym.
P = Predetermining a course of action
L = Laying out your goals
A = Adjusting your priorities
N = Notifying key personnel
A = Allow time for acceptance
H = Head into action
E = Expect problems
A = Always point to success
D = Daily review of your plan
So productivity rule #4 shows us our “HOW!” Now that we know what we want and why we want it; we can start charting our course. This step in the process is imperative because it insures that we will either arrive at the desired destination or, if skipped, it insures that we won’t!
Now we can start setting our goals! I would love to hear where you guys are at in your productivity challenge!
